Our Story

Founded 1992 · Obra, Sonbhadra

Founded in the year 1992, our school began its humble journey in a small room, nurturing tiny dreams in a pre-nursery setup under the loving guidance of our visionary founder, Late Mrs. Poonam Taneja. With just a handful of students, she created not merely a classroom, but a space filled with care, values, and inspiration.


What truly set her apart was her unique ability to recognize and nurture the hidden potential within every child. The young learners under her care began to blossom into confident, talented, and extraordinary individuals.


With unwavering support and shared vision, she, along with her husband and Chairman, Mr. Satypal Singh, laid the foundation of a school that would touch countless lives. Today, we proudly stand as a large and close-knit family, carrying forward her legacy of love, discipline, and excellence.

Milestones Through the Years

1992
The Beginning
Late Mrs. Poonam Taneja starts a pre-nursery class in Obra, Sonbhadra — with just a handful of children and a vision to provide quality education.
Late 1990s
Growing Recognition
Word spreads across Obra about the exceptional learning environment. Enrollment grows steadily, and the school expands to cover Nursery through primary grades.
2000s
Formal Establishment
The school is formally established under the Poonam Taneja Memorial Welfare & Educational Trust, gaining official recognition from Basic Shiksha Parishad, UP.
2010s
Expansion & Modernisation
New classrooms, science lab, computer lab, and a library are added. Classes expanded to include Class VIII, following CBSE pattern curriculum.
2024–25
Today
800+ students, 40+ dedicated staff members, a state-of-the-art campus, CCTV surveillance, and a 98% pass rate — KCES stands as a beacon of quality education in Sonbhadra.
